Walk Through

Initially I started off at the driveway attempting to show the limitation it constrains us with. Unfortunately I did not get a good amount of footage of the driveway itself. I shall have to attempt to acquire more when I do the walk through of the deck and the backyard. But as I stated on the video entering the driveway from the forward direction is safest but it forces one to exit in reverse. The high traffic volume along that stretch of highway makes this extremely hazardous.

The solution, as I see it, is to extend the driveway beyond its current limit. (Further back than the video shows). This extension would push the driveway fully into the back backyard but would give us plenty of space for parking and a full turn around. Eventually my hope is to have the 1st floor of the barn as a garage with driveway leading to it. This way when Yvonne comes home in the evening she'll be able to park in the garage, proceed to the 2nd floor, exit the barn at the deck, and then enter the house through the back door. (To be covered in the 1st floor video walk through.)
Former Owner's Layout

I resumed the footage as I entered the front door. The plan for the living room will be to have a somewhat dynamic furniture arrangement. Firstly, I disliked the original layout concept that the former owners had. It was ... unimaginative and a poor use of space as can be seen in the picture.

The light from the windows creates difficulty in seeing the screen. The layout of the loveseat and sofa blocks traffic or, alternately, traffic interrupts conversation and viewing. Let's not overlook that watching the TV from the loveseat involves a slight contortion. The lack of a coffee table is from pure necessity.

The layout I'm proposing, and hope to implement, places the TV on the wall where the sofa currently sits in the "original" layout picture. A media center will sit underneath it. Where the former TV & etc sat I will be placing a chaise lounge chair. Then there will be two love seats forming an L roughly where the former love seat resided. However the loveseats I acquired are not as space consuming as the previous one. The goal is to create comfortable conversation seating that also has easy viewing access to the TV. Two seating chairs on either side of the TV will round out some additional seating for larger crowds (though a rare happenstance.)

I'm picking up this section again about 14 hours later and I realize that I've been overly talkative at this point. This is mostly just a walk through for all of you to enjoy our new home. A separate page will be for projects, status, and completions. So I'll just add a few more youtube videos so that you've all seen the entirety of the house and property.

That being said, enjoy.
